Ubuntu Ready to Challenge Android Smartphone. Early 2013's, Canonical - the company behind the Ubuntu
distribution - formally introduced the Ubuntu operating system for smartphones.
Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth directly demonstrate this operating system
at its headquarters in
Ubuntu-based smartphone interface is quite interesting with
all four edges of the screen to display the menu or an application icon. Users
easily discover content and switching between applications by sweeping all four
sides of the screen.
This OS will be Web-based support HTML5 and native
applications built, which will include Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps, Gmail, and
Spotify as a first step.
Will also provide mobile SDK that allows developers to
create applications of this code. "The average Android developer has done
his work on the Ubuntu machine," says Shuttleworth.
Meanwhile, Canonical CEO Jane Silber as adding it hoped
Ubuntu became popular in the enterprise market. Because it allows customers to
have a safe device for all PCs, thin clients and have the phone functions.
"Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating system most widely
used by companies in the desktop, with customers in various sectors that focus
on safety, cost and management. We also see opportunities in smartphones,"
he said, as quoted from The Next Web on Thursday (03.01.2013).
And with Canonical private cloud service, Ubuntu One, will
also be able to provide storage and media services, file sharing and secure
transaction services that enable partners to integrate their service offerings.
Despite the ready, but the Ubuntu OS is not yet widely
marketed. Because until now there is no binding cooperation with the vendor
software. So it was worth the wait.
